History in the making

Hyundai sponsors FIFA for the creation of a small scale museum, dedicated to the history of the World Cup on the grounds of the 2022 event in Qatar.

The museum is a place where football fans from all over the world relive the success of their teams and stars and revisit the historic goals that led their teams to victory. 

core idea

Goal of the century

The concept of the building revolved around the idea of a bigger goal , focussing not only on the sport itself but also on the GOAL that we have as societies , to care and preserve our habitat.

This meant developing a structure not only for the shell of the building but also inside that can use as much as possible reusable materials or technologies that minimize the impact of the construction to the environment.

the building was developed by Grimshaw Architects from metal and earth bricks. The facade material returned to nature harmlessly after the end of the event.

Memorabilia

Images and objects related to all the WC editions are displayed in a glass showcase. The design of it uses a light mesh, reference to the local fishing nets, creatin an airy atmosphere. They create a 360 surrounding showcase with all the 21 previous editions.

Goal of the Century

As main sponsor of the event, Hyundai had its share of space into the room dedicated to the Goal of the century campaign. Main highlight was the jersey installation placed around the Trophy room , as a reminder of how important our care for the surrounding environment is.

Trophy as a Space

The Room of the Trophy was created by 2 curved walls, made of the same materials like the History showcase. Here, on one of them Hyundai introduced its campaign to the fans and shirts of the brand ambassadors ( Steven Gerard and BTS among others) were displayed.

Activation

Meetings and press conferences have been organized and televised during the span of the event. Visitors have also had time to interact with special guests , transforming the space into a meeting point for football fans and their idols.
